Last day at school

A meeting and lunch in Irene Village Mall before we had our last day at Cornwall Hill College.
We met Sally (principal at the school in Pretoria), the director and some teachers from this school and talked about  also having a future cooperation together with their school and our schools here in Sweden.

Back at Cornwall Hill we had a braai before we must leave for the airport. There were lots of tears and promises to stay in touch in the future….. We have had a really nice and interesting time here in South Africa together with students, teachers and host families and we look forward to continue our work together .

FNB Stadium

First National Bank Stadium or simply FNB Stadium, also known as Soccer City and The Calabash.

This was the place for the 2010 FIFA World Cup Final, which was played by the Netherlands and Spain. It was also the site of Nelson Mandela’s first speech in Johannesburg after his release from prison in 1990, and served as the place for a memorial service to him on 10 December 2013.

Pilanesberg National Park

The Pilanesberg National Park/Pilanesberg Game Reserve is located west of Pretoria.
In the park there are many of the animal species native to southern Africa including the Big Five, the five most dangerous game animals in Africa ( lions, elephants, black & white rhinoceros, African buffaloes, leopards). This time we didn´t see the lion and the leopard but we saw elephants, the buffalo, rhinos, antelopes zebras, gnus, hyenas, giraffes, monkeys, hippos and crocodiles.

Kruger National park

A School in Pretoria and Die Raasblaar Lodge

Our students went away over the weekend together with their families to different places and I hope they will have great fun.

We teachers visited another school in the middle of Pretoria. This was a private school with about 1300 students and Sally, one of the principals, showed us around and told us about her and the teachers work there, which was very interesting.

In the afternoon we set off for a night away at Raasblaar Lodge. Here we stayed in tents hidden in the bushveld trees. We went for a ride in a jeep and saw some giraffes, ostriches, two buffaloes and some antelopes.
